Setup: Two players with racquets and a balloon in an open space.

  1. Hit the balloon gently back and forth.
  2. Keep it in the air.
  3. Count the number of hits in a row.
  4. Try forehand and backhand.

Coaching cues

  • Watch the balloon
  • Soft hands
  • Move feet under it

Common mistakes

  • Swinging too hard
  • Not moving

Progression: Switch to a red ball with a bounce.

Coach's note: Perfect for ages 5-7. The balloon's slow speed makes success easy.
